ABOUT MY WORK:
I love the creative world and enjoy drawing. I am currently located in Cambridge and study graphic design at Cambridge Regional College and striving to become an illustrator.
My portfolio is built up of a range of drawings and media including children's illustrations, pets/people portraiture using both traditional and non tradiotal techniques; I tend to focus upon unique qualities about the subject, incorporating different medium and materials together. I find that this allows a narrative to form within my work. Although my illustrations hold a subtle romantic atmosphere they also contain a truthful feeling. I like to create mystery in my work.
The main inspiration for my work includes personal events, culture, nature and mythology. I would say that my work is mainly made up of journeys which allows my illustrations to become personal and hold honesty in the story they are depicting.
I Like to capture the spirit of the subject in order to portray the life lived or the event they are going through, which makes an impact to the illustration's purpose overall.
I draw using traditional medium- but practice using a mixture of media together which I feel has allowed me to become more creative and communicate messages on a larger scale.
I use a range of canvases including maps, envelopes and tickets to show my subject's story. I like to work in charcoal alongiside chalk, ink and colour pencils; with this I use fabric, glass, stitching. photographs and etching giving it a realistic quality both visually and in context. I feel that the use of mixed media has transformed my perspective on illustration; it gives depth within it's atmosphere, creates meaning I couldn't achieve with pen and paper. throough taking on this new mindset, i have started to push the boundaries of illustration.
