DECADES
A Brief Overview:
I chose to focus my assignment upon the cultural aspects of society- I became interested in the time between the 1950s and the 1980s. I decided to link my project into unrest that impacted and evolved social groups between these decades.
I chose to study the 1950s to the 1980s because I became interested in the social unrest that made youth subcultures rebel and what influenced their way of living at the time- so far I have found that unrest is both the starting point of people's behaviour and at the same time the outcome.
I found that youth communicated their feelings about the problems they faced in society by expressing it in the form of music, art and fashion.
Many people in the older generation saw this as a Rebellion and a disgrace, sparking outrage towards the standards set in previous decades and disobeying social normality. I also found that cultural icons influenced youth behaviours and ethics along with music.
I found that society and the media caused unrest through political decisions and focusing upon creating A negative image reflecting on youth.
